Sacred Suds is more than a place to do laundry—it’s a place where dignity is restored, neighbors are seen, and hope gets a fresh start. Located at 289 E. Larch Avenue in Muskegon, Michigan, Sacred Suds offers a welcoming space where individuals experiencing hardship can access essential services with respect and compassion.

Founded in 2004, Sacred Suds—Community enCompass became part of the broader mission of H.E.L.P.S. (Helping Every Living Person Survive) when it was purchased in 2020. Since then, Sacred Suds has continued its long-standing commitment to serving the community while expanding its reach and impact through H.E.L.P.S.’ network of support.

Through warm showers, laundry facilities, access to computers and case management, and the opportunity to build real, human connections, Sacred Suds helps individuals take meaningful steps toward stability and well-being.

Tiffany Alexander

Tiffany Wells-Alexander brings heart, faith, and a lifelong commitment to service to everything she does. With deep roots in the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) and guided by the example of her father, Bishop Nathanial Wells, Tiffany has dedicated her life to supporting her community through programs that meet real needs with compassion and respect.

She is the co-founder of H.E.L.P.S. with her husband Courtney, the nonprofit that provides housing, health, education, and community support to individuals and families in Muskegon. Under her leadership, H.E.L.P.S. purchased Sacred Suds in 2020, continuing its 30-year legacy as a safe space where neighbors can access laundry, showers, meals, clothing, and connections to critical services. Tiffany is also closely involved with Mary’s Closet, further expanding her work to provide for those facing hardship.

Guided by faith, family, and a belief that every person deserves dignity and opportunity, Tiffany’s vision ensures that H.E.L.P.S. and its programs are more than services—they are welcoming places where hope is restored, and lives are transformed.

Darvenna Mallard

Darvenna Mallard is a proud Muskegon native with a heart that beats for her community. A lifelong volunteer, Darvenna has spent years showing up wherever help is needed, quietly strengthening the places and people around her.

She has been part of H.E.L.P.S. since the very beginning—one of the organization’s first volunteers and a steady force for over three years. Her dedication isn’t measured in hours (though there are countless), but in impact. Darvenna is the kind of person who makes the hard work possible, the long days lighter, and the mission stronger.

Simply put, H.E.L.P.S. would not be what it is today without Darvenna. Her commitment, compassion, and unwavering belief in community are woven into everything we do.

Latonya Buchanan

Latonya Buchanan is a proud Muskegon native driven by a deep desire to pay it forward through service. Her love for the community runs wide and deep, and it shows in everything she does.

Latonya has a natural gift for connection. She brings people together from all walks of life, building genuine relationships and turning conversations into meaningful impact. Because of her, doors open, bridges form, and community connections thrive.

Quite simply, many of the relationships that strengthen our work would not exist without Latonya. Her heart to serve, her warmth, and her commitment to making a difference leave a lasting mark on both people and community.

Our regular volunteers are the heartbeat of Sacred Suds. Day after day, they show up with dedication, kindness, and a genuine desire to help their neighbors. From sorting laundry and serving meals to welcoming every guest with a smile, these volunteers make our work possible. Without their time, energy, and care, the services we provide—showers, meals, laundry, and connections—would be far harder to deliver. They embody the spirit of community, turning everyday actions into hope, dignity, and lasting impact for everyone who walks through our doors.
